Relay for Life 2009

Nepal Trip 2009
In November Kylie & Jenny with a crew of 9 other people will be embarking on the journey of a life time as they trek through the Himalayan Region in Nepal. During this trip they will be distributing donated clothing and books etc to Hillary Schools in villages along the way.
Along the way they will get to visit a vast array of beautiful countryside and historical sites including the big Tibetan monastery in Boudhna to gain a blessing from the high Lama prior to starting the trek, the Dhud Kosi (River of Milk) which is glacial melt stream the colour of milk, Sagamartha (Nepalese name for Everest) National Park, Everest View Hotel which was built by the Japanese and flew guests in via helicopter however most guests never made it to the actual hotel due to passing out from the high altitude, the Nunnery at Debouche and the Monastery and Thyangboche.
They will be crossing rivers on extremely high swing bridges which they must share with the Yak’s whose only sense of ‘right of way’ is that they have it. Along the trek they will get astounding views of glacial lakes, of ChoOyo (the 6th highest mountain in the world), the Ngozumpa glacier which comes down of ChoOyo, Nangpo La [ La=pass] which is an old trading route into Tibet and more recently a pathway for many escaping Tibetan refugees. This is a mountaineering pass and gives you some sense of the Tibetan’s desperation to escape the Chinese and Mount Everest.
